Good Morning!6/16/2018 I hope you are all well and happy this morning. I'm battling it out with my 30lb pup for the sunny side of the deck this morning. Guess who's winning: And since there is a clear winner here, I'll move on to other things... Lately, I've been on a sewing binge. It all started when I went summer clothes shopping online. I found a pair of jeans that actually fit me - a first in many years thanks to my waist to hips ratio. And yes, I am aware that jeans are not the best choice for summer wear; it was an accidental discovery that I couldn't resist. Then, upon the arrival of my new jeans and subsequent try-on I fell in love with clothes again. Well, there are many, many affordable and adorable summer tops, shorts and such online, but my interest went in an entirely new direction when I noticed how simply made most summery clothing items are. And so I pulled out my little sewing machine (a mini Kenmore) and dug out some fabric I'd tucked away several years ago and discovered I could make the top I was nearly ready to hit the buy button on. Well, once you start down the road, you can't turn back sometimes. I went online again and this time discovered that fabric by the yard costs nearly as much (and sometimes more) than actual clothes you can buy ready-made. Undaunted, I ordered a few selections and when they arrived I started sewing my little heart out. Here's what I've made so far: My poor hubby doesn't know what to think about this. He wakes each morning to discover me waltzing around the place in outfits that weren't there when he went to sleep the night before (I'm an early, early riser). The UPS guy is forever pounding on the door. And I've got a perpetually perplexed expression as I try to decide what to make of which new fabric I've ordered. ...I've even managed to whip up a couple pairs of shorts and a top for relatives who are daring enough to try out my super soft, super cool-to-the-touch creations. (Hugs to them for their bravery.) So, I guess none of this truly has anything to do with writing, but it's so much fun I can hardly stand it. I just received eight new fabrics to play with - I'm going to need a larger closet if I don't quit this madness soon! I told my sweet hubby - not to worry about all the extra closet-crushing-clutter, I'm just not ready to stop sewing yet so I'll make some for other people. Genius, right?
Honestly, I'm going to run out of daring people who are willing to adorn themselves with my humble creations, so if you've got ideas about how I can keep sewing up these little things without ending up with more wardrobe than I'm capable of wearing this summer, do drop me a message and tell me all about it - quickly! :) That's all I've got for today. The College World Series is about to begin here in Omaha, so I'll likely be out doing some people watching for the next few days. It's super warm out these days so there will be plenty of opportunity for me to try out my new clothes - Yay me! Thank you all for grabbing up copies of my books from Amazon while they were on special. I hope you are enjoying the stories. Happy Reading! Amy
