Advertising with Shelfari, by Amazon.com10/15/2011 Your book is 'Live' on your bookshelf and you've created your Amazon Author Central profile and claimed your book(s) - now what? Well, log into your Amazon Author Profile and scroll to the bottom of the page. Amazon.com invites authors to join Shelfari and link to their books directly from their Author Central account. Using the same email and password you used to create your Amazon Kindle Author account, you can now join Shelfari and promote your book - free of charge. What could be better?
The quick and easy: Log in to your Amazon Author Central account and click on the 'Books' tab. A list of your book should appear. Click on one of your books. A new page will appear with your book in the center. Click on the third tab (immediately above your listed books) entitled 'Book Extras'. and on the new page that appears, In the first paragraph, you'll see a live link, click on it and Amazon will automatically open an account for you on Shelfari and add your book to the database under your author name. Now, you could stop here, but I recommend that you fill out as many (if not all) of the data points associated with your book on Shelfari. Remember to make these entries accurate and enticing to prospective readers. When you're finished adding information, click 'Save' and then have a look around Shelfari for some books you might like to read. Congratulations, you've just advertised your book! (Follow this process for each of your titles.) Now, send everyone you know to the 'Shelfari.com' site and ask that they post reviews, comments, 'like' it, etc. You're well on your way toward selling your books. Amy K. Jones Copyright 2011

Have a terrific Monday! After assisting an exceedingly talented writer using Sigil to prepare his books for Amazon Kindle Ebook Publishing, I have concluded that version 0.3.4 is the easiest, most reliable and stable version of Sigil, thus far.
My frustrations with the 0.4.2 release of Sigil: - Every error in the html produced a pop-up stating that there was an error detected in my html, offering me two fix options: 1) Let Sigil attempt to fix it for me, or 2) Try to fix it myself. Attempts to use both of these options resulted in failure, for me. - Each time Sigil detected an error it wished to have addressed, it's desire to see the issue fixed trumped my desire to address the problem later. (Once you see the pop-up, you're stuck where you are until Sigil approves your fix.) This is a problem for me because I prefer that my programs take instruction from me, not the other way around - ever! - Upon moving files, Sigil version 0.4.2 did not automatically update my table of contents (TOC) as it did with version 0.3.4. This is a minor issue, but it can result in an inaccurate TOC should you forget to click on the button in the lower right-hand panel to generate a TOC after making changes to the order of your files. These issues may not be a problem for other users, but upon discovering my lessened control over the program, I searched the release list on the Sigil development site, uninstalled the newest version (that perturbed me so) and reinstalled version 0.3.4. In Sigil 3.4, you'll have everything you need to produce a beautiful .epub version of your book. Help is available and easy to locate, both on the mobileread forum and elsewhere on the net. I've seen no additional benefit to using the most recently released version, so if you're new to Sigil I highly recommend that you download version Sigil 0.3.4 and forego upgrades, at least for now. Sigil 0.3.4 is located near the bottom of the list on this link: http://code.google.com/p/sigil/downloads/list?can=1&q=&colspec=Filename+Summary+Uploaded+ReleaseDate+Size+DownloadCount Amy K. Jones
